16/07/2007 - QPR V Celtic

What a great day, saw Charlie and the bhoys in O'Donghues pub, watched the Celtic win 5-1 and seen a steward fall flat on his arse, MARVELOUS!. The only bad point of the day was seeing that young lad getting taken out by two of the stewards, don't know if that was an ego boost for the stewards to take out a kid like that but it was disgraceful, but anyway enough of the bad points lets talk about the good bits.

I think Celtic have been to loftus road 4 or 5 times in the last few years and me and my Dad still don't know the way, I had an excuse though, I was feeling rough from the night before due to it being my birthday, his excuse was 'I'm getting old son' how many times have I heard that.

We got in to the stadium eventually and I turned to the guy next to me and said what other teams supporters can do this, take over half the stadium plus some of the home section around the stadium. Could you really see an English team or any team in the world for that matter coming up to parkhead and taking over half of paradise? didn't think so. Brilliant.

3 players stood out for me in the first half, Brown, Capone (who I think we should sign after his performance) and Donati.

Brown was everywhere you looked, belting up and down the park without stopping for breath, I know its only pre-season but it looks like he is going to prove me wrong and live up to that £4.4m price tag. He scored a great goal from the edge of the area, probably the man of the match.

If we don't sign Capone we have lost out on what could be a major figure for next season, scored a good goal, all be-it it was the goalkeepers fault it went in but a good goal never the less. Ask yourself after yesterdays performance who would you prefer, Capone or Jiri Jarosik on the wage bill?

Last but not least Donati. He played well, he proved yesterday he is prepared to stay back if Scott Brown goes forward but also can take a few runs forward aswell as pass the ball well, for me the only mistake he made was taking that dreadful free kick that my little 2 year old cousin could have kicked harder, but apart from that he looks like a good addition to the squad.

Couldn't finish this article without mentioning Scott Mcdonald, 2 goals in 2 games. He did'nt play long enough against QPR for me to make a good judgement on him and he only scored a tap in, but done well to get into the position. I know I slated him in a previous article, and I've only seen one performance of his in the hoops, so I will make a promise to you all if he keeps scoring and does it in Europe as well as in the SPL, I will personally write a sorry letter to Mr McDonald. I think thats fair.

And final word to say well done to Big Jan, a lot of players get down about missing a penalty (example: Kenny Miller) but the big man did well to score two goals before getting substituted for the above mentioned Scott McDonald.

Hope yous all enjoyed your day with a wee bevvy!!!

Dan
